Gateshead expand Josh Lucas’s recruitment responsibilities

Gateshead appointed Josh Lucas as head of analysis and recruitment, expanding his existing responsibilities behind the scenes. Lucas had served as lead performance analyst since November 2023 and will continue directing the analysis department alongside the wider recruitment role.
He will work with manager Rob Elliot and the coaching staff to identify future first-team players and lead the recruitment process. Elliot said the change developed the club's long-term football structure and acknowledged Lucas's contributions over the previous two years.
Lucas explained that he would communicate with clubs, agents and players while planning beyond immediate squad needs. Chairman Bernard McWilliams described the appointment as a natural progression, praising the analytical work that had supported several successful player decisions.
