Gauff and Svitolina book Dubai semifinal meeting

Coco Gauff and Elina Svitolina advanced to meet in the Dubai semifinals after contrasting quarterfinal victories. Gauff defeated Alexandra Eala 6–0, 6–2 in sixty-seven minutes, while Svitolina recovered to beat Antonia Ruzic 3–6, 6–2, 6–3 later in the evening.
Gauff won the first ten games against Eala and finished with fifteen winners. Her progression gave the semifinal field three Americans, joining Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova after their earlier victories that day.
Svitolina withstood Ruzic’s aggressive opening before taking control in the second set. The two-time Dubai champion recorded her twenty-third match win at the event, surpassing Caroline Wozniacki’s tournament total and reaching a fifth semifinal in the city.
