Gauff overturns opening-set loss against Parks in Miami
The American conceded only one game across the final two sets.
Source publication date:
Coco Gauff recovered from losing the opening set against Alycia Parks to reach the Miami Open fourth round. She took the remaining sets 6–0 and 6–1 in a one-hour-fifty-minute match, winning twelve of the final thirteen games after Parks’ strong opening surge.
Despite the decisive closing scoreline, Gauff had to save fourteen break points. Parks converted only two of sixteen opportunities, while Gauff broke six times from thirteen chances. Adjustments to return positioning and a more aggressive approach helped the American change the match.
Gauff moved to two victories from two professional meetings with Parks and recorded her eleventh comeback win from a set down since the start of 2025. Her next opponent was Sorana Cirstea, who had defeated Elise Mertens in straight sets earlier in the round.
