Coco Gauff saved three match points before defeating Elise Mertens 2–6, 7–6, 6–3 in Dubai’s third round. The two-hour-and-eighteen-minute victory kept her unbeaten in five meetings with the Belgian and secured a quarterfinal against Alexandra Eala.

Mertens served for the match at 6–5 in the second set but was broken to love. Gauff then survived match points at three stages of the tiebreak, eventually taking it 11–9 to force a deciding set despite persistent serving difficulties.

Gauff won the final three games from 3–3 in the decider. She finished with sixteen double faults and fewer total points than Mertens, yet became the youngest player to record one hundred WTA 1000 main-draw victories.
