The Turkish archer completes a bronze–silver–gold stage sequence.
Source publication date:
Mete Gazoz beat Mauro Nespoli 6–0 in the men’s recurve final at the fourth Archery World Cup stage in Madrid. The match renewed their Tokyo Olympic final rivalry, with Gazoz winning in straight sets this time.
Gazoz opened with sets of 29 and 30. Despite a late gust pushing his final arrow wide, a six was enough to secure gold. Kim Je Deok took bronze behind the Turkish and Italian finalists.
The result followed Gazoz’s bronze in Puebla and silver in Shanghai. Marie Horackova won the women’s recurve title in Madrid ahead of Elif Gokkir and Oh Yejin as the stage circuit concluded before the World Cup Final.
