George Parker announces immediate squash retirement
The former world number twenty-five ended a twelve-year professional career.
Source publication date:
George Parker announced his immediate retirement from professional squash after twelve years on the PSA Tour. The twenty-nine-year-old Englishman had won seven tour events, most recently the London Open two months before the announcement, which was his biggest career title.
Parker began his professional career in 2014 after strong domestic junior results. He won the European Junior Championship in 2015, reached that year’s British Junior Open semifinals and progressed into the world’s top fifty in 2018 through a series of improving results.
The PSA report noted that he had remained inside the top fifty from October 2018 until the preceding month, when he slipped to fifty-second. Parker thanked family, coaches, sponsors and fellow players for their support and reflected on the opportunity to travel through the sport.
