Germany defeated France 5–1 in the Olympic men’s qualification playoffs at the Santagiulia arena. Three goals during the first period established a decisive advantage and sent the Germans into a quarter-final meeting with Slovakia on the following day.

Captain Leon Draisaitl scored the opening goal and added two assists in the third period. He led all players with 24:07 of ice time and shared the game’s highest shot total. Germany also scored twice on the power play.

France finished its tournament without a victory across four games, while Germany moved forward after a stronger team performance. Moritz Seider credited the early attacking start and goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer’s contribution, although he also identified turnovers that would need attention before the next stage.
