Germany won the Olympic luge team relay in Cortina d’Ampezzo, extending its unbeaten record in the event across four Games. Julia Taubitz, Tobias Wendl, Tobias Arlt, Max Langenhan, Dajana Eitberger and Magdalena Matschina combined for the winning run.
Austria took silver with Lisa Schulte, Thomas Steu, Wolfgang Kindl, Jonas Müller, Selina Egle and Lara Kipp. Italy won bronze after its successful doubles competitions, while Latvia finished fourth and the United States fifth in the final team event.
The victory gave Wendl and Arlt their seventh Olympic gold medals, making them the sport’s most successful Olympic lugers. Germany’s previous relay titles came in Sochi, Pyeongchang and Beijing, with the Cortina result continuing that sequence under the expanded six-athlete format.
