Talia Gibson defeated Iva Jovic 6–2, 6–2 to reach the Miami Open fourth round. The Australian qualifier added a fifth top-twenty victory to her breakthrough March, following an Indian Wells quarterfinal run and a straight-sets Miami win over Naomi Osaka.

Gibson did not face a break point against the American teenager and won approximately eighty percent of points behind both first and second serves. Powerful returns helped her control their first tour-level meeting, reversing an earlier WTA 125 defeat on grass in Ilkley.

Her next opponent was Elena Rybakina, who beat Marta Kostyuk 6–3, 6–4 without losing serve. Rybakina became the only player to reach the last sixteen at all four WTA 1000 tournaments held that season, setting a demanding test for the improving qualifier.
