World Athletics awarded the 2025 Golden Gala Pietro Mennea silver status under its Athletics for a Better World standard. The meeting received eighty-seven points, sixty-one more than its initial 2024 assessment, which FIDAL described as the largest improvement recorded globally.

The programme included an executive sustainability committee, environmental monitoring and a communication role for Nadia Battocletti. Organisers estimated the event’s carbon footprint at approximately 184 tonnes of carbon-dioxide equivalent and installed equipment to monitor air quality in real time.

FIDAL published sustainability and environmental-impact reports alongside the recognition. Priorities for later editions include broader measurement of transport, supplies and logistics emissions, an environmental compensation strategy and implementation of food-surplus recovery from hospitality services.
