Guyana enter women’s qualifying lead race
Annalise Vincent scored twice in a 4-0 away victory.
Source publication date:
Guyana defeated Antigua and Barbuda 4-0 in Concacaf women’s qualifying at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. The victory moved Guyana to six points in Group B, level with Jamaica and Nicaragua, although the visiting side remained third on the competition’s tiebreakers.
An own goal by Karmiellia Hughes gave Guyana the lead in the fifteenth minute. Captain Brianne Desa extended the advantage after halftime with a long-range strike, before Annalise Vincent converted a penalty awarded following another intervention by Hughes in the box.
Vincent added her second after capitalising on a deflection to complete the scoring. Guyana’s final qualifying match was scheduled against Jamaica in April. Antigua and Barbuda still had games against Jamaica and Dominica to complete their group programme.
