Source publication date:
Bhutan beat Brunei Darussalam 2-1 in Guwahati to register their first victory of the Asian Cup qualifying campaign. Chencho Gyeltshen scored twice before half-time, lifting Bhutan to third in Group B with four points, one ahead of their opponents.
Hakeme Yazid Said opened the scoring for Brunei with a curling shot after Abdul Hariz Herman reacted to a loose ball. Bhutan answered ten minutes later when Gyeltshen headed Dawa Kuenjung’s cross in off the crossbar.
Sherub Dorji’s corner then provided the opportunity for Gyeltshen to score again during first-half stoppage time. The lead held through the remainder, reversing the same score from the sides’ earlier meeting and allowing Bhutan to finish their unsuccessful qualification attempt with a victory.
