Brad Hall and Lilah Fear were selected as Great Britain’s opening ceremony flag bearers for Milano Cortina. Hall would carry the flag in the Cortina athlete parade, while Fear would lead British athletes at Milan’s San Siro stadium during the distributed ceremony on 6 February.

Chef de mission Eve Muirhead chose the pair following nominations from their sports, citing their leadership and contribution to the team. Hall, entering his third Winter Olympics, followed bobsleigh athlete Stuart Parkinson, who held the same honour at Cortina 1956.

Fear became the first British ice dancer selected for an Olympic opening flag role since Christopher Dean in 1984. Her partnership with Lewis Gibson had earned world championship bronze during the previous season, Britain’s first global skating medal in more than thirty years.
