Hämmerle retains Olympic snowboard cross title
The Austrian edged Eliot Grondin by three hundredths as Jakob Dusek won bronze.
Source publication date:
Alessandro Hämmerle retained the Olympic men’s snowboard cross title in Livigno with a finish three hundredths of a second ahead of Eliot Grondin. The Austrian and Canadian repeated the gold and silver order from Beijing 2022.
Jakob Dusek won bronze, giving Austria two medals, while France’s Aidan Chollet finished fourth after leading for much of the final. Hämmerle waited until the closing section and moved ahead after the last jump to secure the championship.
The result made Hämmerle a two-time Olympic champion alongside Seth Wescott and Pierre Vaultier in the discipline’s history. Dusek’s bronze came five months after a partial knee ligament rupture that had disrupted most of his on-snow preparation before the Games.
