Source publication date:
Hartlepool United completed a one-month work-experience loan for Calvin Okike from Hull City. The 17-year-old defender joined from the Championship club's academy, where he had played for its under-18 and under-21 teams.
Okike can operate at centre-back or left-back, adding options to Hartlepool's defence while gaining experience in senior football. He said discussions with manager Nicky Featherstone had clarified the demands involved in stepping up from academy competition.
Featherstone praised the player's athleticism, comfort in possession and mentality. The manager said the temporary spell would allow Okike to compete, learn and demonstrate his qualities within Hartlepool's environment, while the player expressed his readiness to contribute and develop quickly.
