Einar Hedegart won the Holmenkollen fifty-kilometre freestyle mass start by four-tenths of a second over Harald Oestberg Amundsen. Martin Loewstroem Nyenget finished third, 1.1 seconds behind, as Hedegart converted his first World Cup start over the distance into victory at the historic Oslo venue.

Iver Tildheim Andersen changed skis earlier than most rivals and opened a 15.6-second gap with one lap remaining. The chasing Norwegians closed it before the final kilometres, leaving a tightly grouped contest that Hedegart resolved through an acceleration alongside Amundsen on the last climb.

Kasper Andersson Herland finished fifth on his World Cup debut. The win continued Hedegart’s progress after deciding to focus exclusively on cross-country skiing, following earlier consideration of maintaining a biathlon career.
