Heikal saves two match balls in Texas opener
The Egyptian advanced after a five-game battle while Elhammamy recorded her first Gold-level win.

Nour Heikal saved two match balls before defeating Nour Aboulmakarim in five games on the opening day of the Texas Open. The fifty-three-minute Egyptian contest ended 12–10 in the decider after Heikal recovered from deficits of one game and two games to one.
Heikal advanced to face Olivia Weaver in the second round. Nadien Elhammamy also progressed, defeating Lucy Beecroft in four games for her first Gold-level victory after finishing runner-up at the previous World Junior Championships.
In the men’s draw, Houston-based Muhammad Ashab Irfan defeated Yannick Wilhelmi in straight games. Nick Wall upset Kareem El Torkey by the same margin, while Gregoire Marche beat Sam Todd to move into the next round.
