Henshall ankle injury interrupts Perth’s restored backcourt
The young guard missed Brisbane’s visit as Duke returned from a long absence.
Source publication date:
Perth ruled Ben Henshall out of its home game against Brisbane because of an ankle injury, with further assessment planned before the subsequent Sydney fixture. The setback arrived as David Duke Jr returned from an elbow problem and Sunday Dech recovered from illness.
Henshall had scored in double figures in seven consecutive games, helping cover Duke’s absence alongside Elijah Pepper. Duke was preparing for his first appearance since 28 December, restoring experience to a backcourt that had relied heavily on its younger guards.
The Wildcats were fourth in the standings and competing with Melbourne United for the better postseason position. Henshall’s availability for the remaining fixtures therefore remained significant as Perth attempted to finish the regular season strongly and avoid an immediate elimination game.
