Hernandez and Collado extend winning form with Gijón opener
Gala and García recovered after losing a remarkable tiebreak that finished twenty to eighteen.

Pol Hernandez and Guille Collado won their Gijón P2 opener by defeating Maxi Sanchez and Xisco Gil 7–6, 6–3. They arrived after consecutive CUPRA FIP Tour titles in Dubai and Espoo, with the victory earning a last-sixteen match against Stupaczuk and Yanguas.
David Gala and Pablo García recovered to beat Iñigo Jofre and Manuel Castaño 6–7, 6–2, 6–2. The opening set included an extraordinary tiebreak won by Jofre and Castaño twenty to eighteen, but Gala and García controlled the following two sets to advance.
Tolito Aguirre and Alex Arroyo defeated Fernandez Lancha and Diestro 6–2, 6–2. The next programme included eight remaining men’s first-round matches and eight women’s openers. Attention also turned to Coki Nieto’s return alongside Jon Sanz after Nieto missed Riyadh through injury.
