Herola wins first Nordic combined ski flying World Cup
The Finn beat Lamparter by half a second after the Austrian set a jumping record.

Ilkka Herola won Nordic combined’s inaugural ski flying World Cup at Kulm, outsprinting Johannes Lamparter by half a second. The Finn earned his second career individual World Cup victory after starting the 7.5-kilometre compact race twelve seconds behind the Austrian.
Lamparter jumped 236.5 metres on the HS235 hill, setting a Nordic combined distance record. Herola caught him during the second skiing lap, and the pair exchanged the lead before the Finnish athlete prevailed on the finishing straight.
Johannes Rydzek won another sprint for third ahead of Einar Luraas Oftebro. Lamparter extended his overall advantage to 173 points over Jens Luraas Oftebro, who finished fifth, with two individual events remaining in the season.
