Hornchurch defeat Worthing to move into second
Two first-half goals secured a 2–1 home victory.
Source publication date:
Hornchurch beat Worthing 2–1 and moved above the visitors into second place in the National League South standings. Josh Rees and Dominic Poleon scored before the interval, while Teddy Jenks reduced the deficit early in the second half.
Worthing had created several early opportunities through Brad Dolaghan and Razzaq Coleman De-Graft but could not convert them. Rees opened the scoring in the 24th minute, and Poleon doubled the hosts' advantage ten minutes later after a misplaced pass exposed the defence.
Jenks finished Remiero Moulton's pass shortly after the restart to revive Worthing's hopes. George Cox later had a goal ruled out for offside, and Hornchurch withstood late pressure to claim three points with a game in hand.
