Howden wins Kopaonik ski cross and dedicates victory to Drury
The Canadian earned his twenty-third World Cup win after the previous day’s crash.
Source publication date:
Reece Howden won the second men’s Ski Cross World Cup race in Kopaonik, earning a twenty-third victory that extended his men’s record. Florian Wilmsmann finished second and Youri Duplessis Kergomard third, while Melvin Tchiknavorian did not finish the final.
Howden dedicated the victory to Canadian teammate Kevin Drury, who was injured during the previous day’s final. Drury posted a photograph of his leg in a cast, but the federation’s report did not confirm the precise extent of the injury.
The Canadian’s win followed a jury penalty that had placed him fourth on the opening day. Wilmsmann’s second place gave him a fourth consecutive World Cup podium, continuing his strong form across the post-Olympic racing programme.
