Chloe Hylton scored the only goal as England women’s under-20s defeated the Netherlands 1-0 in Alicante. John Salomon’s side recovered from their earlier 3-1 loss to Spain to record a victory in the second match of the international window.
The Carolina Ascent midfielder broke the deadlock just before halftime with a shot from outside the penalty area. England made several changes after the interval but kept their lead intact, completing a goalless second half and securing the clean sheet.
The Young Lionesses were due to finish the camp against Mexico on 6 March. Their preparations covered the final qualifying round for the Women’s Under-19 European Championship as well as the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup scheduled for September in Poland.
