Larissa Iapichino won her first global championship medal with silver in the World Indoor Championships long jump. Her final-round 6.87m left her five centimetres behind Portugal’s Agate de Sousa, who won with 6.92m.
Iapichino began with 6.49m, 6.69m, a foul and 6.66m. Facing elimination from the final round, she reached 6.84m on her fifth attempt to take the lead before de Sousa responded. Colombia’s Natalia Linares earned bronze with 6.80m.
The twenty-three-year-old, coached by her father Gianni, added the world medal to three European podium finishes, including indoor gold in 2025. In the shot put, Leonardo Fabbri finished seventh with 20.92m as New Zealand’s Tom Walsh retained his title at 21.82m.
