Source publication date:
The International Biathlon Union received the IOC Climate Action Award 2025 in the international federation category during the IOC Session in Milan. President Olle Dahlin accepted the award from Prince Albert II as the Winter Olympics approached.
The IOC recognised the IBU’s transition plan, which includes World Cups and World Championships, and a reported six per cent reduction in direct and indirect emissions across all three greenhouse-gas reporting scopes in 2024. Support for national federation sustainability strategies also contributed to the recognition.
The award cited an ambassador programme involving twenty-six athletes from seventeen countries and a climate challenge engaging 12,000 fans. The IBU also highlighted reuse of the existing Antholz Olympic venue, supplied entirely with renewable energy during the Games.
