The IJF Refereeing Commission released an explanatory video setting out the rules for the coming season. Most provisions remain consistent with those introduced after the Paris Olympics, although a small number of clarifications and adjustments were included.

The federation said the guidance was intended to create a shared understanding among competitors, coaches, officials and supporters. Armen Bagdasarov chairs the commission, which reviewed the impact of the rules during a full year of elite competition.

The World Judo Tour begins with the Paris Grand Slam on 7 and 8 February. Once Olympic qualification starts at the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam, the refereeing framework will remain fixed until Los Angeles 2028, providing stability through the qualification period.
