Indian Wells charity gala honours Martínez, Austin and tournament pioneers

Rosie Casals’ Annalee Thurston Award Reception raised 100,000 dollars for the Love & Love Tennis Foundation on 7 March in Indian Wells. Pam Shriver hosted the evening, which recognised influential women in tennis while supporting grassroots opportunities for young people in the Coachella Valley.
Conchita Martínez received the Annalee Thurston Award, acknowledging a career encompassing a Wimbledon title and high-level coaching. Raquel Giscafre and Jane Stratton received WTA Foundation Champions for Change awards after promoting twenty-nine tour events between 1984 and 2007.
Martina Navratilova presented Tracy Austin with the Georgina Clark WTA Mother Award for her contribution to the tour’s culture and community. The foundation was established by Casals and Tory Fretz in 2015, linking the gala’s fundraising with sustained local youth tennis work.
