Irish schools win five team medals in Wales

Ireland’s schools squad returned from the SIAB Cross Country Championships in Wales with five team medals and one individual podium finish. The Faenol Estate course combined warm conditions, hills and patches of marshy ground across six races.
Freya Renton finished third in the intermediate girls’ race, with Ava Colreavy fourth, helping Ireland take team silver on forty-nine points. The intermediate boys also won silver, despite Darragh Whelan withdrawing near the finish, with Ruby Devereaux fifth and Adam Noone seventh.
Ireland earned silver in both mixed relays and bronze in the junior girls’ race, where Roxanne Sands placed fourth. The junior boys finished fourth as a team, narrowly missing the medals behind Wales.
