Italian athletics remembers administrator Attilio Fezzardi
The former hurdler helped revive Trionfo Ligure and documented a century of athletics in Genoa.

Attilio Fezzardi, a longtime athletics administrator in Genoa, died on 18 March at the age of 91. FIDAL remembered the former hurdler’s work for clubs, regional administration and the preservation of the city’s sporting history.
In 1978, Fezzardi joined others in reviving Trionfo Ligure, a club associated with developing young athletes. His federation service included roles as treasurer, councillor and vice-president in Liguria, alongside professional work connected with the Chamber of Commerce.
Fezzardi also wrote the 2006 book “Genova e l’atletica, l’avventura di un secolo.” The volume collected historical results and photographs from a century of local athletics, extending his contribution beyond administration to a lasting account of Genoa’s athletes and clubs.
