Italy adds two relay medals at university cross country championships
The host team finishes Cassino with its best medal haul in the competition’s history.

Italy won silver in the short mixed relay and bronze in the long mixed relay on the final day of the World University Cross Country Championships. The results lifted the host nation to five medals, its best return across 24 editions.
Thomas Serafini, Melissa Fracassini, Konjoneh Maggi and Valeria Minati completed the 4x1.6km relay in 19:05. Belgium won by eleven hundredths of a second, with Germany third in 19:08 after a closely contested finish.
Mauro Dallapiccola, Diletta Moressa, Carmelo Cannizzaro and Chiara Munaretto earned long-relay bronze in 52:51. France won in 51:30 and Spain took silver in 52:18. Italy finished second in the overall medal table with two golds, two silvers and one bronze.
