Italy and United States share Paralympic banked slalom golds
Luchini and Perathoner won at home as Elliott and Delson secured American titles.
Source publication date:
Jacopo Luchini won the men’s upper limb banked slalom with an unbeaten opening time of 56.28, earning his first Paralympic medal. Pengyao Wang finished 0.34 seconds behind and Zihao Jiang took bronze as the programme was brought forward by one day because of the weather forecast.
Emanuel Perathoner completed the lower limb two snowboard cross and banked slalom double, improving to 54.28 on his second run. Fabrice von Gruenigen earned silver and Ben Tudhope bronze. The medals were determined by each athlete’s best time across two descents at Cortina’s technical course.
Noah Elliott won men’s lower limb one, while Kate Delson took women’s gold in 1:02.99. Mike Schultz earned bronze on his Paralympic farewell, completing four medals across three Games.
