Five men are selected as the federation targets a place in the 24-team field in Botswana.

Italy announced a men’s 4x400m qualification attempt in Catania on 3 April, aiming to reach the World Relays in Gaborone on 2–3 May. The team’s current 3:04.01 sat outside the qualifying positions, with Thailand’s 3:03.07 marking the cutoff when announced.
Selected athletes were Alessandro Sibilio, Vladimir Aceti, Riccardo Meli, Lorenzo Benati and first-time national team member Vanni Picco Akwannor. Denmark and Slovenia were invited because a valid qualifying race requires at least two international teams.
The qualifying window closes on 5 April, considering results from the start of 2025. Gaborone will admit 24 teams and allocate twelve of the sixteen men’s relay places for the 2027 World Championships. The Catania race is scheduled for 15:50 at the Picanello athletics ground.
