World Rowing profiled Italy’s men’s quadruple scull after the crew became the country’s first recipient of its Men’s Crew of the Year award. Giacomo Gentili, Luca Chiumento, Luca Rambaldi and Andrea Panizza earned recognition for their Shanghai world title.

Their championship final included an early lead and an open-water advantage by seven hundred and fifty metres before they resisted Britain’s late challenge. The season had also involved injury disruption for Chiumento and a temporary move into bobsleigh for Panizza.

All four indicated their intention to continue together in 2026, targeting the Amsterdam world championships and European racing on home water in Varese. They dedicated the award to late federation president Davide Tizzano and former teammate Filippo Mondelli.
