Italy wins both Olympic luge doubles titles
Vötter and Oberhofer won the women’s debut event while Rieder and Kainzwaldner won men’s gold.

Italy won both Olympic luge doubles titles in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer became the first women’s Olympic doubles champions with 1:46.284, while Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner won men’s gold in 1:45.086.
Germany’s Dajana Eitberger and Magdalena Matschina took women’s silver, 0.120 seconds behind, with Austria’s Selina Egle and Lara Kipp earning bronze. Vötter and Oberhofer also set a 3.911-second start record during the opening run.
Austria’s Thomas Steu and Wolfgang Kindl won men’s silver, 0.068 seconds behind the winners. Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt took bronze after three consecutive Olympic men’s doubles golds, ending their winning streak as the home Italian teams completed a successful day.
