The two representatives also take athlete seats on the Executive Board under the new constitution.
Source publication date:
The ITTF Athletes’ Commission elected Liu Shiwen of China and Paul Drinkhall of England as co-chairs at its inaugural meeting on 14 May 2026. Liu continued in the leadership role, while Drinkhall became a co-chair for the first time.
Both representatives gained seats on the ITTF Executive Board through the athlete representation provisions of the new constitution. The appointment connects the commission’s work directly with federation decision-making.
Liu’s competitive record includes an Olympic team gold medal and the 2019 women’s singles world title. Drinkhall represented Great Britain at three Olympics and won Commonwealth Games men’s doubles titles. Their governance responsibilities are separate from competition results.
