The Italian champion finished twelfth in 1:01:09 on the Spanish roads.

Badr Jaafari ran a half-marathon personal best of 1:01:09 for twelfth place in Barcelona. The reigning Italian champion improved his previous 1:01:48 mark from the national championship race in Cremona, taking thirty-nine seconds from his best.

Alberto Mondazzi and Xavier Chevrier both recorded 1:01:47, finishing twenty-second and twenty-third respectively. Other Italian runners also improved, while national marathon record holder Yohanes Chiappinelli withdrew after nine kilometres.

Ethiopia’s Hagos Gebrhiwet won the men’s event in 58:05. Loice Chemnung took the women’s title in 1:04:01, a performance FIDAL identified as sixth on the global all-time list. The federation’s report brought together the leading Italian results with the race winners.
