Jacobellis discusses broadcasting, motherhood and continued racing ambitions
The snowboard cross champion used an Olympic commentary role to explain her sport.
Source publication date:
Lindsey Jacobellis discussed her Olympic broadcasting work and life as a new mother in a FIS interview, while confirming she had not officially retired. The American said commentary offered an opportunity to explain the difficulty of snowboard cross and the decisions that spectators might otherwise miss during racing.
She acknowledged missing competition while working from the broadcast booth, but hoped clearer explanations would attract interest beyond Olympic years. Jacobellis highlighted the strength of the women’s field and the progress made by riders who had returned to elite racing after having children.
Those examples encouraged her own ambitions to continue. She also described surfing as a source of recovery and motivation, while parenthood had introduced a slower pace after years of travel and high-speed competition.
