Jovic discusses adjusting to top-twenty expectations
The American teenager identified training balance and experience as priorities during her rapid rise.
Source publication date:
Iva Jovic discussed the challenges of competing as a top-twenty player in a WTA interview at Dubai. The eighteen-year-old was seeded at a WTA 1000 tournament for the first time, less than a year after contesting an ITF event while ranked number 167.
Jovic described feeling new to the tour despite her ranking, with many opponents still unfamiliar. She identified experience in solving difficult match situations as an area where established professionals retained an advantage over younger newcomers.
Her priorities also included preserving time for technical training and gym work within a heavier competition schedule. Rather than setting targets for individual titles, Jovic wanted to build a reputation for consistent deep runs and sustained effort across tournaments.
