Eighteen aspiring international mountain runners attended an England Athletics development camp in Otley on 28 March. The day formed part of the junior talent pathway for athletes showing potential and preparing for opportunities to represent England.
Great Britain mountain runner Charlotte Rawstron explained selection routes and the experience of racing at home and abroad. Emma Moran and Tom Adams then led an uphill-and-downhill training session on the Chevin, drawing on their own international competition experience.
Sam Green discussed strength and conditioning after lunch, and the athletes designed circuits using the material presented. A final question session completed the programme. Organisers also outlined a residential performance camp for seventeen-to-nineteen-year-olds making the transition towards senior racing.
