Forty athletes from ten nations explored communication, identity and social media.
Source publication date:
FIS introduced its Your Sporting Voice workshop at the Alpine Junior World Championships in Narvik. Forty athletes representing ten nations attended the first edition, which linked their competition experience with practical guidance on communication and understanding the contemporary media environment.
Participants discussed personal identity before developing a public narrative. The interactive session examined how athletes can share experiences, connect with supporters and represent their sport, while recognising the opportunities and risks associated with broadcasters, digital platforms and social media.
Belgian skier Iloe Pinchart described the training as useful for dealing with journalists and telling athletes’ stories. She also welcomed access for competitors from smaller nations. FIS presented Narvik as the starting point for further development of the workshop at future events.
