World Rugby confirmed that its men’s under-20 championship would become the Junior World Championship in 2026. The expanded sixteen-team competition was scheduled for Georgia from 27 June to 18 July, across Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
South Africa, Wales, Georgia and Uruguay formed Pool A; New Zealand, Italy, Scotland and Japan Pool B. Argentina, England, Ireland and the United States were drawn in Pool C, with France, Australia, Spain and Fiji in Pool D.
Only the four pool winners would enter the title semi-finals, while other teams contested ranking positions. The final was assigned to Tbilisi’s Mikheil Meskhi Stadium on 18 July. The federation also announced a lower tackle-height trial, presenting it as a safety initiative rather than an already proven tournament outcome.
