USA and Georgia finish first Nations Cup phase unbeaten
Romania, Hong Kong China and Canada claim their first tournament wins.

The USA beat Spain 29–22 and Georgia defeated Chile 49–22 to finish the July Nations Cup phase with three wins each. The two unbeaten sides led their respective pools after the third round.
Romania overturned a 31–14 deficit to beat Samoa 38–37, with Alexandru Savin scoring the decisive late try. Hong Kong China defeated Uruguay 42–40 through Paul Altier’s final penalty, and Canada beat Zimbabwe 23–19 for its first victory.
Portugal held off Tonga 32–28 for a second successive win. The six completed third-round matches closed the Americas leg, leaving the remaining cross-pool fixtures for November rather than determining the tournament’s eventual champions.
