Karalis clears 6.17m at Greek indoor championships
The pole vaulter moves to second on the all-time list during a weekend of national championships.

Emmanouil Karalis cleared 6.17m at the Greek indoor championships in Paiania, near Athens. The performance placed him second on the all-time pole vault list behind Armand Duplantis. Around 2,500 spectators attended the competition.
Karalis first negotiated 6.07m before moving the bar to 6.17m. After that success, he attempted 6.31m. Other Greek champions included Miltiadis Tentoglou, who jumped 8.22m, and high jumper Antonis Merlos, who cleared 2.27m.
Elsewhere in the national championship weekend, Yemisi Ogunleye threw 20.37m in Germany. Czech teenager Tomas Horak improved the European under-20 indoor 200m record twice, running 20.74 in the heats and 20.65 in the final before his eighteenth birthday.
