Karlsson doubles Olympic gold in freestyle interval race
Sweden again took the top two places as Jessie Diggins earned bronze.
Source publication date:
Frida Karlsson won her second gold of Milano Cortina in the women’s freestyle interval start race. The Swedish skier finished in 22:49.2, forty-six seconds ahead of teammate Ebba Andersson, repeating their first and second places from the skiathlon.
Jessie Diggins won bronze for the United States while racing with a rib injury. The American showed visible discomfort after crossing the finish but completed the podium behind the two Swedes at the Tesero cross-country venue.
Karlsson described using regular split information to control her effort and credited advice on pacing from Johannes Høsflot Klæbo. The result extended her successful opening week of the Games and gave Andersson a second individual silver medal at the same championship.
