Megan Keller scored at 4:07 of overtime to give the United States a 2–1 victory over Canada in the Olympic women’s hockey final. The winning goal followed a long pass from Taylor Heise and secured America’s third Olympic title.

Canada led for most of the final two periods, but Hilary Knight equalised with an extra attacker to force overtime. Keller then moved past Claire Thompson and beat Ann-Renee Desbiens, ending Canada’s attempt to retain the title it had won in Beijing.

Aerin Frankel’s goalkeeping kept the United States within reach while Canada created several significant chances. The Americans added the gold medal to their previous titles in 1998 and 2018, while Canada collected silver after a closely contested final at the Santagiulia arena.
