Kerr penalty helps Northern Ireland U17s draw with Norway
The Murcia friendly finished level despite a Norwegian red card.
Source publication date:
Northern Ireland’s men’s Under-17 team drew 1–1 with Norway at the Pinatar Arena on February 21, completing its friendly visit to Spain unbeaten. Captain Joel Kerr scored a penalty after also converting from the spot in the earlier victory against Sweden.
Norway equalised with a shot from sixteen yards after having a player sent off. Northern Ireland had to defend under pressure before the interval, then enjoyed more possession during the second half without finding a winning goal.
Coach Andy Waterworth made five changes to his starting side for the match. The two friendlies supported preparations for March’s U17 European Championship elite-round qualifying group with Spain, Türkiye and Scotland.
