Keys beats Ruse to set up a Miami meeting with Zheng

Madison Keys defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6–0, 6–3 to reach the Miami Open third round. The sixty-seven-minute victory began with seven consecutive games for the American, including an opening set completed in twenty-two minutes against an opponent who had previously pushed her into lengthy contests.
Ruse steadied herself in the second set and kept the first six games on serve. Keys saved three break points from 0–40 before breaking for 5–3, then finished with a drop shot to secure a fourth consecutive Miami third-round appearance.
Zheng Qinwen also advanced after defeating Sloane Stephens, arranging a second tour-level meeting with Keys. Zheng won eight consecutive games during her match and converted four of six break opportunities, extending her unbeaten record against the former Miami champion to three meetings.
