Kingsbury ends competitive career with a Canadian double
Moguls and dual moguls victories marked his final appearance at Sommet Saint-Sauveur.
Source publication date:
Mikaël Kingsbury completed his competitive career by winning both moguls and dual moguls at Sommet Saint-Sauveur. The Canadian took his final runs in front of a home crowd on a course that had contributed to his development in the sport.
The farewell coincided with Freestyle Canada’s fiftieth anniversary celebrations. The organisation traced its national championship history back to the inaugural Canadian event at Camp Fortune in 1976, bringing several generations of competitors and coaches together for the occasion.
Kingsbury’s final season included his hundredth World Cup victory at Val Saint-Côme despite injury problems. He subsequently won two Olympic medals, including the first Olympic dual moguls gold, before concluding his career with the national competition double.
