Maren Kirkeeide won Olympic women’s 7.5-kilometre biathlon sprint in 20:40.8, overtaking the leading time during the final few hundred metres. The Norwegian Olympic debutant shot clean and beat France’s Océane Michelon by 3.8 seconds.

Lou Jeanmonnot took bronze after one missed target, finishing 23.7 seconds behind. It gave the French athlete a complete set of Milano Cortina medals across her first three Olympic starts, following earlier relay and individual podiums.

Michelon also hit all ten targets in her first Olympic appearance, but could not match Kirkeeide’s closing speed. Bulgaria’s Milena Todorova finished fourth, ahead of Lisa Vittozzi and Suvi Minkkinen, while Kirkeeide earned her first individual major-championship podium in gold.
