Johannes Høsflot Klæbo won the men’s freestyle sprint at the Cross-Country World Cup in Falun, returning to competition after his six-gold Olympic campaign. Norway’s Lars Heggen finished second, while Austria’s Benjamin Moser took third, 1.63 seconds behind the winner.

Klæbo led qualification and won both earlier knockout rounds. Lucas Chanavat set much of the pace in the final, but the Norwegian accelerated before the last climb and moved ahead to protect his advantage on the finishing section.

Heggen continued a season that had brought his first four World Cup podiums despite missing Olympic selection. Moser recorded his best World Cup sprint finish, while Mathias Holbæk achieved a career-best fourth place as Klæbo increased his overall championship lead.
